How to Reply to a Text
To reply to a text, answer the point they raised and match the relationship. A boss usually needs a clear, short line. A partner can be warmer. A friend can be brief. If you stall, copy the message into ReePhly, tag that person, and tap Reply for a draft you edit before sending.
What should you do before you worry about an app?
Restate the ask in your head
Are they requesting a time, a yes, a status, or comfort? Answer that, not a different topic. One sentence is enough for most texts.
Pick the relationship, not a mood
Boss, partner, and friend are different jobs. A joke that lands with a friend can read as careless to a boss. Decide the relationship first, then the words.
Write the smallest true sentence
Name the fact, then the next step. You can warm it up after the information is clear. Politeness is specific, not a pile of extra clauses.

How do you reply to your boss's text?
Lead with the fact they asked for. Skip the warmup if they asked a yes-or-no or a time. These are examples you might send, written here as samples:
- Got it. I will send the update by 3.
- I can do Thursday. Does morning work?
- I am blocked on the file. I will have it once I hear back from Sam.
How do you decline a boss politely?
Decline the request and offer a boundary you can keep. Thanks for asking. I can't take that on this week, but I can start Monday. Do not apologize three times. Do not vanish.
How do you reply to a partner?
Answer the plan, then add warmth if you want it. The information still comes first so they are not decoding a mood.
- Running about ten minutes late. Save me a seat.
- That sounds good. Want to do Saturday instead?
- I want to, and tonight is packed. Can we do tomorrow?
How do you reply to a friend?
Match their length. A short ping gets a short ping.
- I'm in. What time?
- Ha, I saw that. Call you after work?
- I have to skip this one. Next time, yes.
How do you decline politely over text?
Thank them or acknowledge the invite, say no, and if you mean it, name another opening. A soft no with no alternative is still a no. A no buried under five friendly sentences is harder to read. Use the relationship: a boss gets the boundary in plain language, a friend can hear it in fewer words.
When is a keyboard a useful shortcut?
When the point is clear and the wording is the slow part. Copy their message, tag the contact if you saved Boss, Partner, or Friend with notes, and tap Reply. That flow is the AI reply keyboard. How those notes change the draft is the context-aware keyboard. Neither step replaces deciding what you are willing to say.
If the problem is your own sentence, not theirs, Assist is the other button. That is covered on the AI grammar keyboard page and in rewriting a draft. Add ReePhly from the setup guide, or start at the homepage if you have not installed it.
Common questions
What do I say back when I have no idea?
Say you saw it and when you will answer for real. Example: I saw this. I will reply properly after my meeting. That is complete. You can replace it later with the actual answer.
How long should a text reply be?
Long enough to answer the question and no longer. A boss checking status often needs one line. A partner making plans may need a time and a feeling. A friend can often stop at a yes.
Where does ReePhly fit in?
After you know the job of the message. Copy their text, tag Boss, Partner, or Friend if you saved that contact, and tap Reply. Edit the draft. The examples on this page are writing samples, not output from the app.
